First Assistant Defender Richard D. Stroba is a 1977 graduate of the University of Michigan Law School, which he attended after receiving his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Government from the University of Notre Dame in 1975. Before joining the Defender's Office in August of 2005, Dick Stroba had been a trial lawyer practicing in Kalamazoo and its surrounding counties for over 27 years. In the last 15 years, his practice focused almost exclusively on the defense of criminal cases. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Criminal Defense Attorneys of Michigan. He is a past-President of the Kalamazoo County Trial Lawyers Association. He is also a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, as well as the State Bar of Michigan and Federal Bar Association of the Western District of Michigan.
