Assistant Federal Public Defender

Parker Douglas joined the office in 2021, and was an Assistant Federal Defender in the district of Utah from 2006 to 2014. Recently he was the 2017-2018 Supreme Court Fellow assigned to the Supreme Court of the United States, serving in the Office of the Counselor to Chief Justice John G. Roberts. Prior to that, he was Federal Solicitor and Chief Deputy Attorney General in the Utah Attorney General's Office, where he litigated and managed all of Utah's trial, appellate, and amicus matters in all federal courts. He graduated Order of the Coif from the University of Utah College of Law in 2000, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Utah Law Review. He also holds an LL.M. in International Human Rights Law from the University of Notre Dame, and a Ph.D. in literature from the University of California. He received his B.A., with a double major in English and History from Pitzer College of the Claremont Colleges, where he graduated with honors, played baseball and pitched a no-hitter for the Pomona-Pitzer Sage Hens.
