Assistant Federal Defender Rhona Taylor is a May 2009 graduate of the University of Maryland School of Law. Rhona graduated cum laude from Spelman College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science in 2004. While in law school, she interned with the State of Maryland Office of the Public Defender and the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights of the San Francisco Bay Area. She also worked as a student attorney for the Maryland Reentry of Ex-Offender Clinic and externed with the Honorable Robert H. Cleland of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. After graduating from law school, Rhona was a volunteer attorney with Michigan State Appellate Defender Office and intern for the Honorable Virginia A. Morgan, Magistrate Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. Rhona is a recipient of the Maryland Public Interest Law Grant, Maryland Dean’s Award and Scholarship, and Equal Justice Works Summer Corps Scholarship. She was also a member of the Moot Court Board and competed in the NYU Immigration Law Moot Court Competition. Rhona is licensed to practice in the state of Michigan.
